  • Who qualifies for free coaching through this program?
    The program is open to anyone who signs up on a first-come-first-serve basis at this time. We trust that if you are here, you are likely in search of a way to feel more in control of your habits that support a healthier way of living.
  • I’ve always wanted to focus on improving my health, but I’m feeling overwhelmed. Would coaching be good for me?"
    It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed by the situation the world is in today. Our volunteer health coaches will help you define who you want to be and where you want to be during this challenging time, and design a plan to make it a part of your routine and health habits. If we identify that you might need medical or mental health assistance beyond our expertise, we will help you seek out that kind of support, as needed.
  • How do I know if coaching is right for me?
    Coaching is for you if you are ready to get clear on how you want to navigate your life during this difficult time, especially with regard to your daily habits. We encourage you to sign up if you want accountability around your health and wellness habits, you want to improve the structure of your week or day. We will help you take self-directed steps to improve your stress management, sleep, food, movement, or social connections. However, if you are in distress or have specific symptoms, please contact a licensed provider, such as a physician, psychotherapist, or mental health counselor.
  • What is an ADAPT Certified Functional Health Coach?
    Our coaches have completed a rigorous year-long training program through the Kresser Institute. ADAPT Certified Functional Health Coaches are uniquely trained to help people change their lifestyle to better meet their bodies’ needs while functioning in our digital, fast-paced world. We focus on food, movement, sleep, stress management, and social connection. The ADAPT Health Coach Training Program is a National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching approved training program.
  • How do I decide between the group coaching program and individual coaching?
    The group coaching provide provides a communal atmosphere, and can support a feeling of connectedness. It can be helpful to hear other’s experiences and to share your own. Group coaching can support peer accountability, which some find helpful. The group coaching program offers more structure approach. If you would feel more comfortable talking one-on-one, then individual coaching might provide a more personalized approach.
  • Will you be sharing diet and exercise tips?
    Our coaches help you draw on your own strengths and resources to create a self-generated plan that is right for you. With that said, we may sometimes share information and resources to help you make decisions around your plan.
  • If I have a health condition, can I still get coaching?"
    Yes. However, the group coaching program is specifically designed in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Our focus is on building resiliency as we all adjust to the abrupt changes in day-to-day life. If you want to coach on a specific issue that is not related to the disruption caused by the coronavirus, then the group coaching program may not not right for you.
  • What happens during a group coaching session?
    Each group coaching session, our coaches will spend a small portion of their time introducing a concept around creating a sense of hope, building self-confidence, becoming more resilient, or developing a realistic optimistic perspective. Then, they will guide you through exploring your own relationship with this concept as well as in planning actions you can explore in the coming week. Between sessions, your can utilize program worksheets and handouts to support you and enrich your growth and experience.
  • How long is a coaching session? How often will we meet?
    Individual coaching sessions are 45 minutes each, once a week for four consecutive weeks. Group coaching sessions (4-6 people) are 75 minutes each, once a week for four consecutive weeks.
  • What happens if I miss a session?
    We ask that you only sign up if you are ready to commit to all four sessions. However, we know that more than ever, life is unpredictable. If you are in individual coaching, you and your coach will reschedule your session for the same week. If you are in the group coaching program, you may only miss one session, otherwise you will be asked to leave the group. We also ask that you give coaches a minimum of 24 hours notice if you are going to miss or need to reschedule. This helps our coaches manage their time, as well as ensure we can deliver an engaging experience for all.
  • How do I meet with my coach if we can’t meet in person?
    All coaching is done via phone call or video call. During your initial introduction with your coach, you’ll make an agreement on when and how to meet.
